It was begun April 2014 and finished November, 2015....yes, it took a long time. But it saw allot of changes in my life and in our house. I hung it on the wall in my studio so I could be reminded to work on it... but when I was pregnant, it was hard to justify working with oils too often incase the paint got onto my skin and leached into my bloodstream and then to the baby. So I didn't paint often.
August came...and that summer I had my baby girl. Now I had to find the time to homeschool my young boy and nurse the newborn! Nevertheless the painting was hung on the wall again. Now it was summer and the painting was in winter.
The next year 2015, I finally found several months in the summer to finish the painting. And most certainly had to have help of my husband so he could watch the three children so i could have 2-3 hours a week, sometimes more a week, to work on the painting. He was a great help and the children always liked the frozen yogurt trip they were treated too.
And now it is finished. Finally finished. It most definitely was hard to find time with three very active children under 7. But it is a beautiful work..I must say myself, .and I am very glad to have had that year with it. All of the portraits I do are certain blessings to me, and how they evolve is soothing to my spirit. I hope the family also finds it just as soothing. A mark on time for me, and a lovely keepsake for them.
